If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll probably end up somewhere else is the title of a book
by David Campbell, Ph.D. The original copyright date on the book is 1974, but the book is completely timeless. It is just as relevant (maybe more so!) today as it was when it was published.
This book teaches you how to make decisions, which is the first step towards taking action to living the kind of life you want to live. His quote on page 10 is “Some people when they are uncertain have a tendency to do nothing.” This is absolutely true for me and probably for most people. And today with information overload we tend to be more uncertain or indecisive than ever. There are so many choices today, it can be difficult to narrow down our choices to finally decide on just one.
On one page I have to laugh when I read, “Life is complicated—that’s why it’s fun!” Again this was written back in 1974, so let me just say, we are having even more ‘fun’ than Dr. Campbell ever could have imagined! (ha ha)
This book is extemely easy to read and geared toward people of all ages. It’s relevant to this Woman’s Web, because we all need to revisit and revamp our life plans as the years go on. My kids are getting older, by next year my youngest will be in high school. I didn’t think this time in my life would get here so soon, but it has and it has caused me to once again revisit my life plan. So don’t think this isn’t for you. In fact Dr. David Campbell also addresses this fact in his book. Another of his quotes is ‘There is no use in fretting much about your age; you can’t change it.” He directs this at both people who are both younger and older.
Remember how I said this book is an easy read? It even comes complete with illustrations like the Gray-Power picture which accompanied his quote about not fretting about your age. It’s a fun read while being extremely informational at the same time. You can either buy the book or just stay tuned to this site as I share a lot of the same concepts that I learned from his book. (Remember, the Woman’s Web has dubbed 2010 the year to get Organized!)
